Error 1 Save Script??

k so basically every other time i sign onto my palace it does not connect me no matter what i do. usually when this happens i get a new registration code but it doesnt always work. so anyways when it does finally let me sign on, it says 'error 1 save script' in my server log and ALL my backgrounds and everything i did prior is lost, gone, finito. i dont understand why the hell it does this but quite frankly im sick and tired of having to rebuild my palace almost everytime!!! what can i do to prevent this? is there a way of saving my work??? im thinking there might be because of the message it says (error 1 save script) but then again isnt it supposed to save automatically?? The only thing that i am left with on my palace after all this is my gate. Its like all the things i did on the first day i got my palace is all that is left. Somebody please help!!

Well first things first:

What type of PAlace server are you using? Windows? Linux? Mac?

If you are using Windows, and Windows vista in particular you need to make sure the Palace Server runs with administrator permissions. Otherwise it will not have any rights to write your Palace config and whatever you change back to disk, making whatever you did dissapear the second you close the server.

You should also check the Palace log to see what is wrong with your login. If a new registration code is the only way to re-enter you are probably flooding the server? This will show up in the server log.

How do you make new rooms etc? Do you use the operator menu to create a new room or use the 'newroom command? the 'newroom command only makes temporary rooms that will be dropped the second whomever created them leaves and the room is empty.

To really help it is a good idea to give as much info about your Palace server, operating system en whatever you do to create the "problem"

I'm pretty sure that i am using the windows server. I use phalanx and i have vista. What do u mean by make sure it runs with administrator permissions? how do i do that?

the only thing the palace logs says to me is error 1 save script and it says it quite frequently actually.....thats really weird. its like whenever i create a room or whatever it doesnt save it? I always goto operator, new room. every single time.

also, my palace isnt hosted..i dont think that would make a difference though. and on my server, it doesnt connect me to any links such as administrator site page, connect to this palace, authorizing tool, help page none of those work. everytime i click on one it brings me to a web page saying oops this link appears to be broken and on the search bar it says "palace perl pal admin" or "palace perl pal entry" ect. why is this? i wonder if its cuz i use phalanx? or maybe its cause im not hosted and i dont have my own palace site

"error 1 save script" Sounds like your Palace server doesn't have the admin rights to save the script. Did you try setting the Palace SERVER to run as administrator?

None of the links will work because those webpages have vanished, official Palace support, that runs those scripts, died in 2000.

oh...thats very interesting haha. okay well im a lil sketchy on trying it because it involves closing the server and i fear it will delete everythign yet again. so i tried it, and of course it did in fact delete everything i spent all day doing... -.- . so i tried it out after running the server as administrator and i only added the menu background, closed the server again then er-opened it and it was there. so hopefully it stops deleting my stuff now which i think it has so i thank u! and i thank u very very much for your replies. if it werent for you maarten, i wouldnt be able to create my palace. thank u very much

No problem, You are very welcome, that is why Palaceplanet is here :) And really I hope it will all work for you because nothing is more frustrating then to build something nice only to loose it for some unknown digital problem.

Okay so it did it again....i lost everything. its a bit weird because this time instead of it just having 1 background and 4 rooms remaining, this time it has 2 backgrounds and 4 rooms remaining. Anyways, maarten, you mentioned before about running my server as administrator...i dont have to run it as that everytime i open it, do i? i really dont know what else to do about this major ongoing issue. my palace address changes almost everytime as well and i find that odd. its always the last few numbers that change and the previous address i used before will not connect me. Why does my address change? Why do i keep losing my progress? what does it decide to not connect me?

To help you need to give more information about what exactly you have done to make it run as administrator.

Chancing Palace can a normal thing if you are on dialup or your ISP does not give out static IP's but it can also depend on your network settings.

Please give more info when you ask questions because I can not guess everything :)

im sorry
its hard to give lots of information when i dont know too much but ill give it a try. k, i right clicked on my palace server program and clicked on run as administrator. then i reopened it, added a room in my palace to see if it would stay, closed palace and server and then opened it again..and it actually did, just not a door i had in it linking back to the gate. So then after that i made a whole bunch of rooms and such and figured it was all good but then i closed palace (not the server) and tried to reconnect to my server but ti wouldnt let me. then i looked in my server log and saw a new i.p address (i think thats what its called) and the last numbers were different. so then i used the new address and it connected me. its like after everything i do on my palace the server log says "- Error 1 Save Script"...
as for the connection, im not on dialup. whats ISP? im not sure what to do about my network settings. what do u reckon i do?
