ok one thing I wanted to post on this DO NOT try to edit your pat file in word or office, this will cause you problems. If you need a program for doing that goto http://www.palaceplanet.net/local_links.php?catid=3 and download either edit pad ot text pad.
Also Programmers File Editor is good for editing http://californiadreams.maniaserv.com
at bottom of that site on left---has a great search also---doesnt die and can have many windows open etc probably does much more than I use it for -which is editing pat and borg and keeping notes etc oh yeah and adding pids in prop gens. I have used this for like 10 years and never had it mess up a pat or borg---the reason they might be messed up is Word Pad-Note pad and Office etc add extra characters and then they can't be "read" !!
