No, compatibility mode was not turned on, and turning it on has no effect, and the program does have admin permissions, or at least, the account I run the program from is an administrator account.
And as I said, everything else works just fine, it's just the display tab under preferences that's screwy. It's not too important, I guess, just annoying that I can't hide the window because the icon doesn't show up in the taskbar tray like it's supposed to.
