Display Preferences Keep Resetting

So I recently had to reinstall my OS (Windows XP Pro), and along with it, the Palace Server. Since doing so, when I first start it after first installing it, the palace server icon shows up in the task bar and the Display Preferences are set to Show an icon in the task bar tray, and the Visit the Palace button should use the Windows Palace Client.

However, as soon as I close the program, then open it again, no icon shows up in the task bar tray, and the preferences are set not to and to use the Palace Viewer. Setting it back to the way it was uses the Palace Client, but no icon ever shows up again in the task bar tray, and every time I close and open the palace server again, it's back to no icon and Palace Viewer.

I'm pretty much baffled as to what could be causing this and how to get it to show the icon in the task bar tray every time I open the server.

Sounds like it is not saving any preferences, mighty be a permission problem. Did you run this program as Admin or in some kind of compatibility mode? (right click the program, there should be an option in the preferences somewhere)

I installed it from my admin account as well as the XP built-in admin account, same result, and it saves the preferences of all the other tabs, just not the display tab, and even then, the default options for display is to show the icon in the task bar and use palace client, but when I close it and open it again after the first time it runs, it unchecks the show icon checkbox and switches it to use palace viewer.

So did you turn on compatibility mode and does the program have admin permissions?

No, compatibility mode was not turned on, and turning it on has no effect, and the program does have admin permissions, or at least, the account I run the program from is an administrator account.

And as I said, everything else works just fine, it's just the display tab under preferences that's screwy. It's not too important, I guess, just annoying that I can't hide the window because the icon doesn't show up in the taskbar tray like it's supposed to.
