Help Pls, Animation Fails

helppppp!!

hi.. my first try at animation.. mixed results..

as a test, first thing i did was create a door, add 4 randomly chosen pics, and then the standard on enter animation script.. worked like a charm.. though i noticed some parts of the pics acted transparent.. wasn't sure why.. i've used these pics as standard backgrounds before without that effect happening.. anyway

then i got serious.. created 4 animation pics.. on adding them i saw the bit where it said double-click to alter the transparency index.. thought this may have been why previous pics had transparent parts.. thinking it must be a number between 0 and 255, i tried 255, i tried 254, i tried 1, i tried 10.. no matter what number i tried.. it made the background totally wash out to white.. so i tried 0, i tried unticking the set transpareny index.. all i got from these latest tries is a black background..

i thought maybe i'd done something that disturbed the continuum and the heavens.. so i deleted the room and started again.. this time i couldn't reproduce any animation and only succeeded in getting either a white background or a black background..

i considered editing it from the pat file, but thought i'd be better to try here first..

you help and advice would be very much appreciated

Big Smile, I worked it out. It wasn't seeing the pics. I need to load the pics in first under room info, then remove them and add them into the door. The room seems to need them first so it will cache them or some such. WooHoo!

k i basically have the same problem with the transparent white around the animated picture excpet i dont quite understand what u mean about adding them under room info...i cannot do such thing under room info, how did u do this exactly?

Adding them under room info is not the solution, the reason why Andrew didn't see them is because he did not refresh / leave the room and then come back.

Door scripts only become active after you re-enter a room, so whatever you add to it will not start loading until you have re-entered.

Anyway, if you have pixels or whatever showing up that should be transparent you should check the transparency settings in the door / picture.

Make sure that any GIF you add is a GIF 89a with a proper transparency set in photoshop or similar program. You can experiment with the door pictures b clicking on them and then adjust the transparency in the door menu.

oh man i JUST figured it out and i gotta tell you how i did it. i, after you have added the pictures into the door, goto edit, then right click each one and from the drop down menu select 'auto'. its automatically set to none so you gotta change it to auto. =) soooo glad i figured it out!!!!!
