Linux prop making

ok, so I was wondering if anyone uses linux and makes avatars? I tried using GIMP but it doesn't apply the palette correctly (even with the various dithering options).

This is a basic problem with all image editors. Any editor that supports color palettes can usually save a color palette from a picture. Go to the mansion, download the entry gate or harrys bar image and create a color palette from this GIF. That should help you make avatars.
