Can't open props file: -1

Hi, I searched for help for my problem but didn't find any posts that helped me. I was on the Palace tonight editing, and I was in my prop bag, and then my comp froze and the Palace shut down. I restarted my comp, but when I click on the Palace, it gives me this message: "Can't open props file: -1" I can't get in at all. I think it might be something wrong with my comp, cause it's been screwy lately, but if there's anything anyone knows of to fix this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Sounds like your prop file got corrupted. You have a backup right?

Yup like Cradom said, your propfile is corrupted. If you have a backup use that one, otherwise you need to download a backup default propbag from the downloads section here on the site.

It sucks but propfiles can get corrupted by a couple of things:

Size: With any propfile above 25MB make sure you make a backup.
You can find your propfile in the Palace install directory (search for palace.prp)

Shutdown: Palace props are lost or corrupted when the client is not closed properly, this can be because the Palace crashed, Windows crashed or you canceled it with a forced quit.

The general rule is: if you have a cool collection of props you should make a backup, this is pretty simple: Just click on your propfile while keeping the control (CTRL) button on your keyboard pushed down. This will duplicate the file. And drag thepalace.prp file to another location or the same location.

Make sure you have enought diskspace for this :P

Thanks for the help guys, but it's not just the props. I can't get into the Palace at ALL. It gives me that message, and then it doesn't go anywhere. No, I don't have a backup cuz I'm relatively new, but will downloading the default propbag get the Palace software running again? Thanks

Yay! I downloaded the propbag and it's working again!!! :( But all my props are gone. How do I make a back-up so this never happens again? Thanks for your help!

Just make a copy of it and stash it somewhere it wont get lost (like a CD).
I do this everytime I add more than a few new ones.

Hi...I know this is an old post that you made, but I'm new at this, and I'm having the same problem. How do I download a propbag, and where do I find it? Like I said, I'm a rookie. Thanks for any help you can give.
