I am prolly making this harder than it really is...

Greetings.

I have an issue with a palace server (v 4.5.1) I'm trying to set up on the latest version of Ubuntu Server 32 bit. I want to point out I am not a linux expert so any feedback might be helpful. I want to point out that the issue is similar to a post already listed but slightly different as my port 9998 is not being "filtered."

Set up: I have Ubuntu running on VMWare on my personal Mac Mini client. I bridge the network connection. My mac mini is behind an Airport Extreme.

Issue: While I have been able to set up the pserver successfully, I have had issues getting on by connecting my external IP address. I have done every possible combination of IP addresses in the pserver.conf file (in terms of the binding IP address and the front end). I have ran an nmap report and it appears port 9998 is open on the external ip and the local one. I have been able to set up the pserver.conf to allow me to connect with the local IP but not the external. I have also set up the airport extreme to forward 9998 requests to the Ubuntu server (with local port forwarding on 10001, as what's laid out in the pserver.conf).

I want to point out that when I try to connect via Palace32 client, a connection is picked up but I am immediately dropped with "Bad Packets" listed in the log as the reason. On pchat, the log says I'm connected but then it just freezes, showing no background or avatar.

Here is what I have in my pserver.conf. Not to be redundant, but just to reiterate I have tried every combination imaginable with this but I will be willing to try any suggestions:

BINDADDRESS "10.0.1.9"
FRONTEND "9998" "70.119.72.139" (this is my external IP, you can try connecting to see what I mean)

Thanks for any help you can offer in advance.

HI,

Just one more quick question...

Since the old directory is no more, what is the new IP address and address of the new directory? I figured it might be something like

XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX thepalaceportal.com

If this is correct then all I need is the IP address.

thanks,

I heard somewhere that it was simple and free to install a Linux Palace server but there's no working manuals or guides to get it running. I checked out thePalace's server manuals and I tried following the one for Unix but the instruction doesn't give me any results and it just doesn't work. Is there some kind step-by-step guide or video that shows how you can get installed? Or can someone make one for me? PS - Yes I am a retard

Hi,

I am hoping for some help on how to convert a linux 4.5.1 palace server to the newer 800x600 format for room sizes? I have tried to load the bigger picture in the server and making a room but it fails to load on the client. Any ideads?

The Problem I am seeing is that I can down load the 512x384 sized room pics but not the 800x600 in the new PChat Client is there something I can do to fix this?

thanks.

Hello

I'm having some issues with server.. Seems like it was installed perfectly in my remote server by ssh, netstat -a shows up the server running, just like other services I installed.
But when I try to log in to my palace, it takes a lot of time to recognize it cannot, and says the server refused connection.
Seems like I have some issues with firewall.
I'm running a debian.
How can I configure my server to give access to the users?
Netstat -a says
tcp, recv 0, send 0, local address *:9998, remote address *:* state LISTINING.

the ps is:
/usr/local/palace/bin/pserver -f /usr/local/palace/palace/psdata/pserver.conf
root 3956 0.0 0.0 1628 552 pts/1 S 03:32 0:00 /usr/local/palace/bin/psfront -p 9998 -r /usr/local/palace/palace -l logs/pserver.log -s 0 -a localhost -n -b 0.0.0.0 -c 10
root 3957 0.0 0.0 1924 936 pts/1 S 03:32 0:00 /usr/local/palace/bin/psfront -p 9998 -r /usr/local/palace/palace -l logs/pserver.log -s 0 -a localhost -n -b 0.0.0.0 -c 10

If I install in my desktop linux (ubuntu karmic koala) it runs nice in the 127.0.0.1...

I'm not yet a great system administrator.

Thank you
